Presidential Professorships are awarded to exceptional scholars of any rank who will contribute to the diverse experiences, perspectives, and eminence of Penn faculty. They were established in 2011 to strengthen the University’s ability to recruit, retain and mentor distinguished scholars who are preeminent in their fields and have demonstrated a commitment to sustaining an inclusive and vibrant academic community.
Launched by President Amy Gutmann with a $10 million anonymous gift, Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) Professors are renowned scholars whose work draws across two or more academic disciplines and who thrive at the intersection of multiple fields.
Each year the Provost selects a scholar whose work touches on a matter of great public impact to deliver the Provost’s Lecture on Diversity.
The Excellence through Diversity Fund provides resources for innovative interdisciplinary projects of Penn faculty on topics relating to diversity and inclusion.
